During the 2023 season, the Philadelphia Eagles were among the NFL’s most disappointing teams. Building on their 2022 NFC Championship, they began the season with a 10-1 record, quarterback Jalen Hurts looking like a potential MVP.

However, they eventually ran out of steam and completely lost control. They finished the regular season with a five-game losing streak and lost the NFC East championship. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers easily trounced them in the playoffs.

Their troubles were mostly centered on the defensive end of the ball, as they were among the lowest in the league. However, their crime was also appalling. Some have compared their offense to pee-wee level, therefore there was a lack of continuity and chemistry.

The Philadelphia Eagles worked hard to fix that this offseason. To further utilize Jalen Hurts, they updated the weaponry and hired Kellen Moore as the offensive coordinator. Saquon Barkley, a running back, signed a free agent contract. A.J. Brown’s substantial contract extension served as a buffer against any problems.

For the 2024 season, Philadelphia’s offense will likely look different. Hurts recently made a statement about how things have changed since Moore took over.

The majority of the inventory, probably 95% of it, is new right now, so it’s just been that process, and it’s been enjoyable because you get to see what works for other people, Jalen Hurts said. “You get to a point where you feel, I’m going to be comfortable with this, I like this, that time comes when you can rep it, rep it, rep it later on,” Hurts explained.

“It’s been a process, but at the end, I want it to be mine and have it my way. I think the goal coming in was to learn and master Kellen’s offense.”

It has been said that the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2024 offensive strategy is a hybrid. A portion of Moore’s contributions have been blended with those of former head coach Nick Sirianni.

What kind of level Moore can get Jalen Hurts and the Eagles to will be exciting to watch. The team’s fundamental problems from the previous season included an over-reliance on Brown and DeVonta Smith as the only pass-catching options available in addition to tight end Dallas Goedert.

Although there wasn’t much depth added at wide receiver, the team might truly benefit from a system adjustment. Barkley is a fantastic pass-catcher out of the backfield, and Moore need to use him a lot as well.
