Just concluded was Victor Wembanyama’s rookie season in the NBA.

The Chicago Bulls’ Lonzo Ball recently discussed Wembanyama on his podcast, The WAE Show, and he made a very audacious claim.
Ball: “We’ve never seen a better defensive player than him. In a year, he will likely average five or six blocks. He may end up being the greatest player of all time.”

Wembanyama concluded his rookie campaign in the NBA with 71 games played, averaging 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.2 steals, and 3.6 blocks per game while shooting 32.5% from three-point range and 46.5% from the field.
With a 22-60 record, the Spurs were the 14th seed in the Western Conference as they continue to rebuild.
Nevertheless, Wembanyama demonstrated his ability to rank among the best players of all time, and the Spurs have a bright future ahead of them that might see them challenge for the title in the next five years.
Ball, a UCLA graduate, was selected with the second overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.
But injuries have prevented him from playing since the middle of the 2021–2022 campaign.
In 252 regular season games, the 26-year-old has averaged 11.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.6 steals while shooting 40.0% from the field and 36.4% from three-point range.
