Since 1994, the Buffalo Bills have not been in the Super Bowl. The fact that the team is 4-1 on the largest football platform does not help their argument. It should also come as no surprise that the Bills would be utilized as an example to demonstrate that knowledge garnered from continuous failure does not equate to success.

It’s interesting that during the Stanley Cup Finals between the Florida Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers, talk of the Bills’ dismal record came up. During a press conference, Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch was questioned about his club’s lack of finals experience despite facing a Panthers team that was ready to play in its second consecutive championship.

For the remainder of the championship series, the Buffalo Bills fan base will support his side because of his answer.

Yes, the experience is positive. I’m not sure how valuable experience is—you can ask the Buffalo Bills—but playing with confidence is crucial, and when our guys are performing at their highest level, they need to exude confidence. According to Kris Knoblauch

The Bills were able to capture a stray from the NHL. In a practical sense, the head coach was right when he said that success is not always guaranteed by experience, even though it is helpful.

Out of the twelve NFL clubs, the Buffalo Bills have never won a Super Bowl.
The Bills have four Super Bowl berths under their belt. The club returned there in 1992 only to lose to the Washington Redskins after losing the big game to the New York Giants in 1991. Impressive, huh? The Bills returned to the Super Bowl in 1993 and 1994. The group succeeded in qualifying for four consecutive finals. But in the end, the Dallas Cowboys won each of those seasons.

Buffalo has had the worst luck in Super Bowl history, which is not surprising. The squad has not returned there since that year, and they still own the record for having qualified for and lost all four Super Bowls in a row.

The Oilers should brace themselves for a spike in the number of Bills supporters who attend their games solely to jeer the team during the playoffs. Buffalo hockey supporters would naturally want to support the Panthers over the Oilers because they have former Sabres players like Sam Reinhart, Kyle Okposo, and Brandon Montour on their roster.
