As we all know, the Montreal Canadiens are seeking to add some punch to their offense.

Many people expect Kent Hughes to make another Kirby Dach or Alex Newhook move during the draft.

With the 5th and 26th overall picks, as well as other promising prospects, the forward in exchange in a potential swap of this nature would be very interesting.

Martin Necas is the buzz of the town, but Trevor Zegras has long been the subject of trade speculations in Montreal.

Zegras has been the focus of trade speculations in Anaheim since last summer, and Pierre LeBrun revealed in his most recent story for The Athletic that the Habs have approached the Ducks about the American.

I spoke with General Managers Tom Fitzgerald, Barry Trotz, Pat Verbeek, Kent Hughes, Daniel Briere, and Brad Treliving at the Scouting Combine in Buffalo on Tuesday.

“I believe Anaheim and Montreal have reunited regarding Zegras. However, I do not believe the Habs will pursue this course strongly. — Pierre LeBrun

The Habs GM has several possibilities for young forwards, but not all of them are as available as Zegras.

In addition to Necas, who is receiving interest from across the NHL, names like Dawson Mercer, Alexander Holtz, and Cole Perfetti might be excellent additions to the Tricolore, but at what cost?

Hughes stated in the same LeBrun story that the Habs are not seeking to improve immediately.

On the other hand, if the forward acquired in a potential draft trade benefits the club next year, that would be the cherry on top.

Hughes also stated that, absent a surprise, the Habs should keep their fifth overall pick and draft with it.

He also hinted at the prospect of moving up in the selection, but all of this will be determined by the situation at draft time, as a variety of scenarios may develop.

One thing is certain: the draft will be really interesting to watch, particularly for Tricolore supporters, as there will be a lot of movement.

Exciting news for Gabriel Landeskog and the Colorado Avalanche.

“Gabriel Landeskog may make a comeback in September. He wants to show that he is still an important player on the club. He has been working hard for 13 months!”

– We expected Don Waddell’s Carolina assistant to take over, but instead we were treated to a GM switch.
