Yankees Rumored Target Is ‘Gone For Sure’, Making Deadline Deal Possible

The New York Yankees have the prospect capital needed for a successful trade deadline.

New York continues to win, and it is now tied with the Philadelphia Phillies for baseball’s best record at 43-19. So far this season, the Yankees have found success in almost every aspect of the game, and there are no obvious deficiencies.

The Yankees are in a great position, but the deadline is soon approaching, therefore they will be referenced in speculations. New York does not need to make any dramatic adjustments, but it might benefit from adding more bullpen depth in case injuries arise down the line.

Tanner Scott, the outstanding reliever for the Miami Marlins, has already been connected to New York several times this season, and it appears that he may be moved. ESPN’s Jeff Passan looked at each team ahead of the deadline and claimed Scott is “gone for sure.”

“Gone for sure are left-hander Tanner Scott, who might be the best reliever available, and first baseman Josh Bell, both of whom reach free agency this offseason,” Passan stated.

Scott has been excellent this season and could be exactly what the Yankees need. He has a 1.50 ERA in 24 innings pitched this season and might serve as an ideal eighth-inning bridge to closer Clay Holmes.

It sounds like he’ll be moved, therefore the Yankees should call the Marlins.
