How about the Cowboys? If you’ve been paying attention, the Los Angeles Rams are aware that they may face the Dallas Cowboys during the 2025 NFL Playoffs.
This club also understands that it will face the Dallas Cowboys in Game 1 of the 2024 preseason. On Sunday, August 11, 2024, at 1:25 p.m. PT, the preseason game will be played at home at SoFi Stadium. That’s barely over two months away.

Pitting the youthful LA Rams against the Dallas Cowboys in joint workouts during the offseason makes a lot of sense. For starters, the Rams last had joint practices with the Cowboys in 2021. If you recall, that was the year that the team won Super Bowl LVI. So, why not start the 2024 season on the same footing as the previous one in order to reach another Super Bowl?
While the Rams’ anticipated starters are unlikely to appear in preseason games, the organisation has scheduled controlled scrimmages with other NFL teams during joint practice sessions, allowing the team to organise game-like conditions for starters ahead of the regular season. Those regulated scrimmages rely on scripted down and distance scenarios and allow both sides to use their primary players. Those programmed plays are designed to reduce the danger of injury while still allowing players to gain speed through collision.

While the Rams and Cowboys are not slated to play each other this season, this combined exercise will provide an opportunity for the team’s young roster to confront a playoff-caliber opponent in a learning atmosphere. The Dallas Cowboys are performing at their best during the offseason. According to one forecast, they will go 13-4 this season, sweeping the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants.
While I believe the Dallas Cowboys will have a good 2024 season, I am not as optimistic about their chances this year.
Fans are excited about the first preseason game, but not for the reasons you may assume. Based on who plays in Game 1 of the preseason and who does not, fans will have a good idea of who will start for the team this year. Unlike many teams, the Rams use backups and players on the roster bubble during preseason games. That technique not only makes a large amount of video material available to help players sign with new clubs if they are released, but it also ensures that starters begin the new season with as few injuries as possible.
The Rams roster is deeper this year than in recent seasons, so several talented players should be on the field to contend with the Cowboys. That should make this year’s match entertaining to watch.
