Troy has agreed to a home-and-home football series with Buffalo in 2025 and 2027, the school said Tuesday.
The Trojans will travel to Buffalo on September 20, 2025, before welcoming the Bulls to Troy on September 25, 2027. The teams have only met once in football, with Troy winning 42-32 in the 2018 Dollar General Bowl in Mobile.
Troy’s non-conference schedule concludes with the Buffalo games in 2025. That year, the Trojans will also play at Clemson (Sept. 6), Nicholls (Aug. 30), and Memphis (Sept. 13).
The 2027 Buffalo game joins non-conference home games against Southeastern Louisiana (September 4) and Mississippi State (September 18). When combined with Troy’s four to-be-determined Sun Belt Conference home games, the Trojans will have seven home games for the first time in programme history in 2027.
“Securing a seventh home game in 2027 is unprecedented for Troy football,” Troy sports director Brent Jones stated. “It gives our amazing fans an incredible home schedule as we welcome SEC foe Mississippi State and a strong Buffalo programme that has played in bowl games in four of the last six years.”
The Buffalo series was added after UMass cancelled the remaining four-game series with the Trojans when it joined the Mid-American Conference. The Trojans hosted the Minutemen in 2016 and planned to do so again in 2030, with games at UMass scheduled for 2025 and 2027.
Troy, the Sun Belt Conference champion the previous two years, will open the 2024 season at home on August 31 against Nevada. This season, the Trojans will also play non-conference games at Memphis (September 7), Iowa (September 14), and at home against Florida A&M (September 21).
