The Ohio State football team boasted one of the finest defenses in the country last season. They had the greatest pass defense in the country and were top-five in every other key metric. The good news for them is that most of their finest defensive players elected to return for one last journey.

There’s a good potential that the Buckeyes could have the greatest defense in the country. The secondary is going to be scary excellent this year. A lot of these youngsters will go for the draft in 2025. So which of them will be the first defensive Ohio State football player drafted?

I think Denzel Burke has the best chance. Burke has been one of the better players on the Buckeyes for two of his three seasons. His rookie year showed that he had a shot to be an All-American. While he hasn’t quite attained that level yet, he was a First-team All-Big Ten last season.

Burke has proved that he is a shutdown corner. Teams have started to throw away from him on a frequent basis. That’s the type of skill that NFL teams are seeking for, especially in a pass-happy league. Every organisation is seeking for a corner to lock down a side of the field.

While Ohio State has some other incredibly excellent players, Burke has a potential to be the highest-drafted guy. J.T. Tuimoloau is the only one who can challenge him, and that’s if he has a handful of sacks this year. His sack totals have been disappointing so far in his career.

The Buckeyes are a pretty solid defensive squad. I would be surprised if numerous players weren’t taken in the first round on that side of the ball for Ohio State. Jim Knowles has done an outstanding job of restoring this unit back to what it used to be.
