When BVB bus driver Christian “Schulle” Schulz set off from the team hotel in Glasgow, an exciting assembly of legends was sat behind him: Kevin Grosskreutz, Marcel Schmelzer and Roman Weidenfeller – and for the first time: Lukasz Piszczek and Jakub Blaszczykowski. This was the first appearance in the BVB legends team for the two Poles, who were greeted with acclaim from their teammates.

There was also cheers from the Celtic fans as the BVB bus rolled up at Celtic Park. 35,000 fans turned up to watch the game. The home fans were still buzzing from the previous evening, when they lifted the Scottish Cup and accomplished a domestic double.

Around 100 BVB fans were come to cheer the Black & Yellow legends. Many of them come from Scotland. The flags of fan clubs Edinburgh Borussen and Scotland Clan hang on the railing.

Then things became emotional: Murdo MacLeod steps onto the pitch. He earned the hearts of supporters both as a player at Dortmund and in Glasgow. The stadium rose to its feet, Murdo wiped the tears from his face. His former teammate, Nobby Dickel, offered him a heartfelt embrace as he exited the pitch.

There was another Scot in the stadium who played for both clubs: Paul Lambert. He coached the home team in the first half and played for the Black & Yellows after the interval. He is “grateful”, says Paul after the game. He had a terrific time at both clubs.

The Celtic legends won the game 4-2, with David Odonkor and Jakub Blaszczykowski (after an assist from Lukasz Piszczek) scoring for BVB. Coach driver Schulle stays on the island with the team bus. In less than a week, he will pick up our first team at a London airport and then take them to the Champions League final. Hopefully the outcome will go down in mythology.
