Cameron Carter-Vickers USMNT

Cameron Carter-Vickers is pressing himself to overcome USMNT Copa America “cuts”, while embracing more transfer business at Scottish heavyweights Celtic.

WHAT HAPPENED?
The dominating 26-year-old defender has experienced a productive 2024, with title glory and domestic cup success savoured in Glasgow. There is still plenty more for him to achieve, with the no-nonsense centre-half included in the United States’ preliminary squad for the Copa on home soil.

WHAT CARTER-VICKERS SAID
Carter-Vickers has remarked of potentially attending another major tournament, having already turned up at the 2022 World Cup: “We have the Copa America and two friendlies before that. The roster has been named for the friendlies and I think they might make a few cuts before the tournament squad. Hopefully, I am in the squad.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE
When returning to Parkhead over the summer, Carter-Vickers is aware that Celtic may dip back into the market for further competition in his position. He has no issues with that, adding: “I have been here three seasons now and we always tend to sign a lot of players. That’s just part of it. Since I have been here every player we have signed has come here with the proper mindset and tried to help the squad as much as they can. That’s all you’re looking for.”

WHAT NEXT?
Carter-Vickers has raced beyond the 100-appearance barrier for Celtic, with his original loan stay included in that total, while he is up to 16 caps for the USMNT and will be anxious to earn a first international honour after missing out on triumphant CONCACAF Nations League campaigns.
