Following the abandonment of a significant offshore project by potential Everton investors 777 Partners, the owners of a top-four Premier League team may decide to take over.

For about a year, Miami-based firm 777 has been involved in an extensive campaign to purchase Everton; but, recent events have made a deal seem improbable.

Because the Premier League is unsure the company can continue to fund Everton, it has declined to approve the transaction.

Meanwhile, Josh Wander and Steve Pasko, the front-runners for the takeover, were pushed out of 777. Their commercial empire is collapsing.

Following 777’s £108 million purchase of a 70% stake in the four-time Brazilian top-flight winners in 2022, the wealthy financiers of another elite club may soon seize control of the team.

After the Brazilian courts removed the club from 777’s jurisdiction, it is still in limbo. Should Sawiris and Edens be successful, it might become the newest club in their network of clubs.

Edens and Sawiris, like 777, own shares in and collaborate with numerous teams, including as Japanese team Vissel Kobe and Portuguese team Vitoria S.C.

What impact might this have on 777 Partners’ proposed Everton acquisition?
Edens and Sawiris’ V Sports group and potential Everton owners 777 are very different from one another.

While the Toffees are in a financially vulnerable situation as Farhad Moshiri looks to find a new owner for the team, Villa has just qualified for the Champions League.

That seems unlikely currently. 777 has until May 31 to demonstrate their ability to support the team financially over the long run, including the £500 million stadium proposal.

And the mess at Vasco will not help 777’s quest to convince the Premier League that they have the resources to manage Everton.

This is another evidence that 777’s attempt to purchase the Toffees has failed—not that it was necessary.

Who else is vying to acquire Everton?
MSP Sports Capital, a different organization with ownership interests in several football teams and who is purportedly investigating a purchase of Everton, might provide a lifeline.

They have an existing financial agreement with the club that gives them the possibility to assume complete control.

GDA Additionally, Luma Capital has made the club an offer to lend £150 million; however, it is unclear if this offer includes the option to purchase Toffees stock.

According to reports, a consortium from Qatar has been approached regarding a potential acquisition, and US real estate tycoon Maciek Kaminski, along with special purpose acquisition firm LAMF Global Ventures Corp., had previously expressed interest.

As soon as it became clear that 777’s proposal was futile, Moshiri began speaking with other organizations. The 31st of May is the deadline for 777, and Everton supporters should find out more about those.
