Dan Campbell in a headset

On Sunday, January 14, 2024, during the first half of the NFC wild-card game between the Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Rams at Ford Field in Detroit, head coach Dan Campbell of the Detroit Lions walks down the sideline.
Since OTAs began, Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell has been talking up a certain well-known player as a “man on a mission.”

Jameson Williams, a wide receiver, was mentioned by Campbell as someone who has really improved during the offseason. Despite the wide receiver’s mediocre first two seasons in the NFL, Campbell seems to think that a breakout is imminent for the former No. 12 overall choice.

According to Erik Schlitt of Pride of Detroit, Campbell told reporters, “We’re two practices into (OTAs) and if you said, ‘Give me one player that is the most improved from that start to finish in that time,’ and Jamo would be that guy right now.” “I’ll just leave it at that. He’s a man on a mission.”

In response to a question about where Williams was improving the most, Campbell remarked, “Everywhere.”

Williams’ first season was lackluster since he was selected while recovering from an ACL tear. Supporters had great expectations for the second year, but the campaign was badly hampered by a gambling ban. Although Williams only played in 12 games and only caught 24 receptions for 354 yards and two scores, he showed glimpses of the skill that attracted so many to him.

This offseason, the Lions did not make many additions to their wide receiving corps. They might be hoping for significant improvement from Williams in his third year, and it seems like their patience will pay off.
