Jeremie Frimpong

Manchester City may start to consider one former player as they approach the transfer window.

A emerging talent, Jeremie Frimpong is coveted by elite teams like Arsenal, Real Madrid, and City.
Bright full-back Frimpong might be City’s long-term Walker substitute at a cheaper cost than his market value.
Frimpong, who has 14 goals and 12 assists this season, is a potential addition due to his early ties to City’s academy and desire to play for Guardiola.
Due to his quick rise at Bayer Leverkusen, Jeremie Frimpong is currently one of Europe’s most sought-after players. The Dutchman is reportedly being pursued by Manchester City, and Dean Jones has exclusively told GIVEMESPORT that a deal could be reached with the hope of finding a long-term replacement for Kyle Walker.

After making his breakthrough at Celtic, Frimpong went to Leverkusen in 2021. Although his growth was progressing naturally at the BayArena, Xabi Alonso’s hiring greatly enhanced his abilities, as seen by Frimpong’s two consecutive inclusions in the Bundesliga Team of the Season. Since he plays for one of the top youth clubs on the continent and is a standout full-back, rumors of him being on the verge of a move have been rampant.

When Frimpong was nine years old, City accepted him into their academy. Kyle Walker called him “incredible.” However, even though the Dutchman was registered as a minor at the Etihad Stadium, first-team football was not in the cards for him, and at eighteen, he joined Celtic.

Still, rumors of a possible relocation to City have persisted. According to a report earlier this month from the German publication BILD, Frimpong’s £35 million release clause has made him more accessible to clubs across the continent, including Real Madrid, Arsenal, and City. City may attempt to capitalize on his inexpensive signing by integrating him as their first-choice right-back for many years to come.

Frimpong is ‘an obvious fit’ for Manchester City, according to Jones

In an exclusive interview with GIVEMESPORT, Jones stated that Frimpong’s growth through the City ranks as a young player might offer them an advantage in the competition for his signature, with his desire to play under Pep Guardiola being the cherry on top that could entice him to return to the northern region. He declared:

“He seems like such a natural fit, and it’s evident that City is identifying talents for the upcoming few years as guys like Kyle Walker will begin to fade away.

Frimpong’s early involvement in the young system may have helped, and his fearlessness and approach to the game make him a potentially valuable addition. Though they have expressed interest in him, they have not yet made a firm decision to pursue him.

“I’ve heard that he would like to return to the Premier League, so if that’s the case, he won’t likely decline the opportunity to play under Guardiola. Right now, it might be the only improvement to playing for Xabi Alonso.

Frimpong Is The Perfect Choice to Replace Walker
The Dutchman has every quality needed to be successful at City
14 goals and 12 assists in all competitions is an incredible total for any player, much less a right wing-back in a 3-4-3 system, as Kyle Walker celebrates Manchester City’s victory. However, Frimpong has excelled this season to establish himself as one of the top young players in the world.

With his explosive pace, sophisticated ball handling skills, and defensive prowess, he is highly sought after by most teams. As Walker ages, Frimpong appears to be the logical choice to take over as right-back.

Although it is unclear if City would act, there aren’t many better choices available for the club to choose from at £35 million.
