Fulham are ready to hire Goncalo Jose Goncalves as their first-team coach, according to Football Insider sources.

After being named as manager of Primeira Liga club Casa Pia in February of this year, the 37-year-old has spent the last few months in charge.

However, he has now signed terms with Fulham and is expected to be revealed as Marco Silva’s new assistant manager at Craven Cottage.

On Tuesday (May 21), an independent FA commission approved the Portuguese’s work visa.

Goncalves will succeed Luis Boa Morte, who accepted an offer from Guinea-Bissau to become their new manager at the end of this season.

Goncalo Jose Goncalves will replace Luis Boa Morte at Fulham.

Boa Morte returned to Fulham in July 2021, when Silva took control at Craven Cottage and led the team back to the Premier League.

The Portuguese, who previously played for the Cottagers for six years, has helped his compatriot secure a position in the top division in recent years.

After finishing 10th in 2022-23, Fulham improved to 13th in the most recent campaign, keeping them far above of the relegation zone.

Silva’s team did, however, win only two of their final nine Premier League games, as their play remained inconsistent throughout the year.

It now appears that Goncalves will be the one to step in and assist Silva with his work in west London.
