It’s an exciting moment to be in the Yankees’ clubhouse right now. The Bronx Bombers began Monday with a seven-game winning run and the American League’s best record, 33-15.

Luke Weaver, a veteran right-handed pitcher, is one athlete who is enjoying his success. He arrived in New York last year after being grabbed off waivers from Seattle in September. After signing a one-year contract with the organization in January, Weaver, who had a 5.14 ERA in his first eight big league seasons, has a 2.25 ERA and a 30-to-5 strikeout-to-walk ratio through 28 innings this year.

“There’s a lot to be excited about,” Weaver told MLB Network Radio on Monday. “… It’s just incredibly enjoyable to come into the clubhouse every day and prepare with the anticipation of winning. That’s a wonderful sensation.”

Juan Soto and Aaron Judge have perhaps contributed the most wins to the Yankees this season. The former is batting.311 with a.963 OPS in his first season in pinstripes, while the latter was recently awarded American League Player of the Week. Weaver discussed what it’s like to see those two batting titans on a daily basis.

Who is the Yankees’ top hitter?
“Playing against Juan Soto for a time — rather impressive. But seeing it up close puts things into perspective, and he’s a terrific guy overall,” Weaver said.

“Judge as well. You’re starting to see that this dude is as hot as can be, which is another sight to behold.”

Weaver also praised Clay Holmes, the Yankees bullpen’s captain. The right-handed closer has been flawless for the Yankees, allowing no earned runs in 20 appearances and sharing the MLB lead with 13 saves.

Clay Holmes secures the Yankees’ 7-2 victory.
“He’s just a guy who humbly has, I guess, an aura to him,” said Weaver. “When it’s time, there’s only lock-down mode. There is something in his eyes. His routine is about as consistent as it will ever be.

So, what does Weaver think when he watches No. 35 take the mound to close out another game for the Yankees?

“Let’s enjoy this,” he remarked.
