The Boston Celtics are in the Eastern Conference Finals. They will take on either the Indiana Pacers or the New York Knicks. The winner advances to the NBA Finals, where they will fight for the NBA Championship. The Golden State Warriors eliminated the Celtics from the 2022 Finals.

Draymond Green was a member of that Warriors club, and he won his fourth title as a result. In the most recent episode of his “The Draymond Green Show” podcast, the veteran forward explained why the Celtics are under enormous pressure to win the championship this season.

“Tim Legler said the Celtics season will be a failure without a championship,” Green stated. “Normally, I disagree with s— like that.” It would be like a heated takeaway. Tim Legler is completely correct on this one. Jaylen Brown is making $300 million or more, and Jayson Tatum is about to follow suit. It is a failure. You go out to get Jrue Holiday. Go out and acquire Porzingis. When you made those decisions, the season turned out just as you had hoped…Guess what? It is time to win. And now is the moment. We no longer care about the number of conferences. A finals appearance isn’t good enough. “You have to go win it all.”

The Celtics have appeared in six of the last eight Eastern Conference finals. They have advanced out of that round once. Their lineup is designed for immediate success. They have dominated the NBA during the regular season. Given the quality on the roster and the luxury-tax bill that comes with it, Boston must win a championship within the next two years.

As a result, they’re under a lot of pressure to overcome this obstacle. Of course, they cannot see too far ahead. Whoever they face in the conference finals will be a difficult challenge. You don’t get this far into the playoffs without being an elite-level club. Nonetheless, the Celtics are likely to advance beyond the conference finals. They are projected to be champs. If they fail, the label will remain with this lineup for the duration of their time together.

The Celtics have experienced enough developing years. They went all-in this summer. Now it’s time to back up the media hype.
