More rain at Indianapolis Motor Speedway has resulted in two additional schedule modifications, one today and another tomorrow, leading up to the 108th running of the Indy 500.

After Tuesday’s opening day practice session for the 108th running of the Indy 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway was cut short to 24 minutes due to rain, the start time for Wednesday’s session was pushed up from 12:00 p.m. ET to 10:00 a.m. ET.

Unfortunately, the session did not begin on time, and it is unlikely that it will begin even close to its scheduled start time of 12:00 p.m. ET, due to rain.

IndyCar has responded by announcing two additional schedule modifications.

The Indy 500 practice schedule has changed twice more.

When (if) today’s practice session begins at the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) oval in Speedway, Indiana, it will go until 7:00 p.m. ET, rather than 6:00 p.m.

Furthermore, tomorrow’s session, which is (at best) the only full day of racing trim this week, has been prolonged. It was originally slated to run from 12:00 p.m. ET to 6:00 p.m. ET, but its start time has been changed forward to 10:00 a.m. ET in the hopes that, unlike today, this modification will make a significant difference.

According to the Weather Channel, today’s rain will end just after 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time. However, as we all know, no weather forecast for Speedway, Indiana at this time of year should be taken with more than a grain of salt.

There is a 22% chance of rain on Thursday, 65% on Friday for the “Fast Friday practice session,” and 48% on Saturday for the first day of qualifying. There is a 15% probability of rain on Sunday, the second day of qualifying.

There is a 48% probability of isolated thunderstorms on race day, Sunday, May 26.

Scott Dixon of Chip Ganassi Racing topped the speed chart in yesterday’s brief session, clocking a high lap speed of 229.107 mph in his No. 9 Honda.
