Following the 2023 season, the Virginia Tech football team experienced a high level of retention on both sides of the field. Antwaun Powell-Ryland and Josh Fuga confirmed their return to the defensive line. That did not deter head coach Brent Pry from adding depth through the transfer portal, which included Duke transfer Aeneas Peebles, Iowa Western Community College transfer Kemari Copeland, and Oklahoma transfer Kelvin Gilliam.

Tuesday night, Pry received a major commitment from an Alabama transfer, giving opposing teams another option to game plan for next season and making the defensive line one of the deepest in the ACC.

Alabama transfer Khurtiss Perry has committed to Virginia Tech.

Virginia Tech recently hosted Alabama transfer Khurtiss Perry for a visit, and it appears that they won him over, as he committed to the Hokies on Tuesday night, according to Pete Thamel, providing Pry and his staff with another good defensive lineman. Perry selected Virginia Tech over Indiana, Wisconsin, and Louisville.

Perry was the 54th overall talent in the Class of 2022, according to 247Sports, and he was a four-star recruit out of high school. 247Sports evaluated him after high school and you can find it here.

In addition to the players mentioned above, Pry signed offensive tackle Montavious Cunningham from Georgia State and linebacker Sam Brumfield from Middle Tennessee State. Last month, Virginia Tech received a commitment from UCLA quarterback Collin Schlee, following Dylan Wittke’s spring transfer to Minnesota for the 2024 season.
