That’s hardly the best way to end a game.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Blue Jays played the second of two games against the Baltimore Orioles, losing 3-2 and late. Due to the rainout on Tuesday, the two clubs shared the series 1-1, with the Blue Jays dropping to 19-23.

The Blue Jays fell behind early, as Jordan Westburgh hit his sixth home run of the season in the bottom of the first, giving the Orioles a 1-0 lead. Kikuchi would only give up one run this afternoon.

The Blue Jays took the lead with one swing in the top of the third, when Bo Bichette hit his sixth double, scoring Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer, giving the Jays a 2-1 lead that they would hold until the bottom of the ninth.

Things worth mentioning…
Yusei Kikuchi once again threw an outstanding game, finishing with 4.1 innings, 6 hits, 1 earned run, 1 walk, 9 strikeouts, and a home run allowed. He was pitching well, striking out nine of the 13 batters he faced, but was removed after 88 pitches.

Bo Bichette is definitely back. On Wednesday, he finished with two hits, extending his hitting streak to seven games, and was the only Blue Jay to have multiple hits.

George Springer was one of three players to hit a double, along with Bichette and Kevin Kiermaier, who had his third of the season. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. also had a hit and made a great play to get out at home plate.

Yimi García has been outstanding this season. He pitched an inning and two-thirds, walking two and struck out one batter. His season ERA is an impressive 0.53.

Zach Pop has pitched effectively since rejoining the Jays, ending with an inning and three pitches and striking out one hitter on Wednesday. His season ERA is 2.57, and it will be difficult to demote him while Chad Green and Bowden Francis are healthy.

Up next: Thursday is a day off, but they’ll return to Toronto on Friday for a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays, beginning at 7:07 p.m. ET. Chris Bassitt is the scheduled starter in the game.
