The NFL offseason has slowed since the 2024 NFL Draft, but there are still some high-quality free agents available for contenders to consider. The Philadelphia Eagles are one team to watch this offseason, as they have exhausted all options for improving their roster.

Howie Roseman is certainly determined to return his team to the Super Bowl. After struggling late last season, the Eagles have put in a lot of effort this offseason. They might now look into adding a six-time Pro Bowl defender to bolster their defense even further.

According to Bleacher Report, a preseason match between the Eagles and Calais Campbell makes sense.

Calais Campbell may be a great addition to the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense. Bleacher Report went into further detail on why the match could be beneficial to both parties.

“Calais Campbell might assist fortify a defensive front that just signed Bryce Huff but traded Haason Reddick and lost Fletcher Cox to retirement. Philadelphia’s pass rush was adequate in 2023, but its sack total fell from 70 in 2022 to 43.”

Campbell had a successful season with the Atlanta Falcons in 2023. He recorded 56 total tackles, 6.5 sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a pass defense.

To suggest such data are reliable would be an understatement. The fact that Campbell is delivering those stats in his late thirties only adds to the impressiveness. The Philadelphia Eagles could use more defensive line disruption, something Campbell has provided throughout his career.

This is a cost-effective agreement for the Eagles. It would most likely be a one-year deal that would provide them with good defensive support for the 2024 season. If that is the type of deal they would make with Campbell, they should go for it.

Expect the Eagles to continue to look for ways to strengthen their roster. Roseman and the front management are definitely willing to spend and make changes that will improve the team’s outlook into 2024. This would be one of such movements.
