Lions rookie cornerback reveals why he chose an unusual jersey number.

If cornerback Terrion Arnold’s “coin toss” allegation was accurate and he was picked by the Las Vegas Raiders, he most likely would not have been permitted to wear No. 0 during his rookie season.

Jakorian Bennett, a Raiders cornerback, has that Las Vegas jersey number.

Arnold will be able to wear the unique digit after arriving at the Detroit Lions’ rookie minicamp on Friday. The Alabama native informed reporters that he chose No. 0 because “ain’t nobody like (him).

Arnold was picked with the 24th overall choice in the NFL Draft in April, and he is slated to start this season across from left cornerback Carlton Davis III. Davis was traded to the Lions in March after spending his first six seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Other predicted starters for the club are 2023 second-round pick Brian Branch and 2022 third-round pick Kerby Joseph at strong and free safety, respectively.

According to ESPN’s Eric Woodyard, Arnold is only the third player in Detroit history to wear No. 0, after fullback Johnny Olszewski in 1966 and wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. in 2023. Jones Jr. was released from the team in October after stating that he was leaving due to personal reasons.
