The referees at the heart of Nottingham Forest’s dispute with the Premier League and FA have been chosen to officiate at Euro 2024.

Stuart Attwell, whose integrity was questioned by Forest after their 2-0 loss to Everton on Sunday, will be one of the VARs in Germany this summer, while Anthony Taylor, who was in charge of the game, will be a referee, UEFA confirmed this morning.

Both the Premier League and the FA initiated investigations after Forest accused Atwell of being a Luton fan in a contentious social media post following their defeat.

Forest are refusing to back down, with owner Evangelos Marinakis reportedly “raging” with Taylor and Attwell’s choices after the squad was refused three penalties at Goodison Park.

Forest has formally requested that PGMOL provide the audio recordings of conversations between officials, and they are considering legal action. If Forest is accused and found guilty, he or she may face a variety of punishments, beginning with a fine.

According to the Daily Mail, Forest are also exploring legal action against Sky Sports after analyst Gary Neville compared their inflammatory statement to that of a “mafia gang”.
