The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel has approved various new rules, so college football will have a little different feel next season.

One of the accepted rules is that coaches may employ coaches-to-player helmet communication with one player on the field. According to the NCAA, coach-to-player communication will be switched off with 15 seconds remaining on the play clock or when the ball is snapped, whichever happens first.

Alabama football tried using technology to connect with their quarterbacks during spring practice.

“I think there’s a lot of reasons for it that I know can be positive.” Kalen DeBoer stated when addressing the ability to communicate with a player on the field. “I’m not sure if it addresses all of your concerns about the things that others claim it automatically fixes. Maybe sign theft and things like that, because I believe there are other ways it might go the other way, such as being intentional and trying to obtain a call and then echoing it over your defensive headset.”

College football will also have a two-minute warning with two minutes remaining in the second and fourth quarters.
