The Alabama Basketball team has landed former Auburn Point Guard Aden Holloway in the transfer portal. The Freshman was a five-star recruit as the 3rd-ranked point guard and 16th-ranked player while rating as the 28th-ranked transfer. Holloway struggled as a Freshman with just 7.3 points per game with 2.7 assists and 1.5 rebounds per game.

Nate Oats is relying on pure talent here as Holloway has all the talent to be a solid player but, hasn’t put it all together yet. The Tide have a scarcity of guards after Aaron Estrada ran out of eligibility while Rylan Griffen, Davin Cosby, and Kris Parker entered the transfer portal. The Alabama Basketball is also awaiting news on whether Mark Sears or Latrell Wrightsell Jr will be returning to Alabama or heading to the NBA Draft.

If Mark Sears declares for the NBA Draft, Holloway will be in competition as the team’s starting point guard. Nate Oats offered high praise after playing Holloway this season saying the following:

“He’s one of the best guards in the country, in my opinion.”

Under Nate Oats, Holloway will aim to regain his three-point shooting form after being recognized as one of the finest shooters in High School before shooting 30.2% at Auburn. Overall, Holloway will be a fantastic point guard for the Alabama Basketball team as he took care of the basketball with a 3 to 1 assists to turnovers ratio.

Alabama Basketball: Chance at a historic roster

The Alabama Basketball team has a chance for a historic roster if Mark Sears and Grant Nelson return for the 2024-25 season. The Tide will have six high-caliber athletes coming in with the three top 50 recruits, plus the transfers of Holloway, Houston Mallette, and Chris Youngblood. The main objective now for Nate Oats is landing a center as the club visits Rutgers transfer Clifford Omoruyi this weekend.
