The Pittsburgh Steelers are already showing promise for the next season, even before taking the field for offseason training. With a big increase in their quarterback group, from Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph, and Mitch Trubisky to Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, there’s a palpable energy about the squad. Many commentators consider them a dark horse candidate in the AFC.

However, despite the substantial progress at the quarterback position, the Steelers acknowledge the need to boost their passing game further to compete in the very competitive division they occupy.

Reports imply that the front office is actively chasing elite players to bolster their receiving corps.

According to observations from Denver Broncos insider Ryan Edwards, the Steelers are in close pursuit of Brandon Aiyuk, as relayed by Benjamin Allbright.

Aiyuk, discontented with his role in the San Francisco 49ers’ offense, has fueled speculation about a potential trade to Pittsburgh by communicating with coach Mike Tomlin on social media.

While Aiyuk is definitely a talented player, his opportunities in San Francisco may stay restricted with the presence of other offensive studs like Deebo Samuel, Christian McCaffrey, and George Kittle.

In contrast, a move to Pittsburgh could allow Aiyuk the ability to occupy a key role as either WR1 or WR2 with George Pickens. Additionally, the Steelers could consider securing Aiyuk’s services for the long term through a contract extension.

Securing Aiyuk won’t be a straightforward chore, given his recent accolades, including a second-team All-Pro designation. However, the Pittsburgh Steelers should leave no stone uncovered in their pursuit of boosting their roster for the upcoming season, and investigating options to bring Aiyuk on board could prove vital in their drive for success.
