In the aftermath of Fulham’s victory, alleged Hammers managerial target Marco Silva sent a West Ham message of pure class.

The Hammers appeared to have entirely ran out of steam.

And it was a result that likely dashed West Ham’s aspirations of a fourth consecutive European season.

The game was tarnished by a brutal hit to budding star George Earthy.

The midfielder made his Premier League debut but was transported to hospital on a stretcher, wearing a neck brace, and breathing oxygen.

“It happened, of course, and there is no news right now, but we are really looking forward to hearing positive news soon since that is all we want right now.

“A sad moment but we wish – myself and our football club – all the support for him, for his family as well and for West Ham.”

Especially in the dog-eat-dog world of modern football, where greed frequently knows no bounds.

West Ham have issued an update since the game, saying that Earthy is being evaluated in a London hospital.

“The midfielder – who entered the field as a second half substitute to make his Premier League debut against the Cottagers – was taken off in stoppage time,” a statement from West Ham added.
