New running backs coach Carlos Locklyn is going to be a fan favorite

Carlos Locklyn delivered an outstanding performance during his first press conference as Ohio State’s new running backs coach. I believe Buckeye Nation will adore him because of his jokes and team-oriented mindset.

To begin the press conference, when asked how pleased he was to be in Columbus, Locklyn claimed he had to “pinch himself every morning” because he was that excited to be with the Buckeyes. He also stated that when Ryan Day first contacted him via text, he felt like “a kid on Christmas morning.”

Locklyn appears to be overjoyed that he was being considered to succeed Tony Alford. However, becoming Ohio State’s running backs coach is certainly not simple. Yes, there is a lot of skill, particularly with TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins, but how do you manage their workloads so that you can get the most out of them without overworking them?
“This ain’t my first rodeo,” Locklyn explained.

When he was at Memphis, he worked alongside Darrell Henderson (who played for the Rams this season), Patrick Taylor (49ers), Tony Pollard (Titans), Kenny Gainwell (Eagles), and Antonio Gibson (Patriots). That’s an exceptionally loaded RB roster. While Locklyn was not the official running backs coach at Memphis, he played a significant impact in shaping these athletes.

Locklyn appeared sure that he knew how to get all of these players to work together, and he expected the same to happen at Ohio State. He had already recruited Judkins and Henderson, so he was already familiar with them.

Locklyn takes great care in his relationships.
