Kyle Larson claims he is “comfortable with IndyCar” after an impressive day one of Indy 500 open test though with much uncertainty.

Kyle Larson of Hendrick Motorsports recently participated and drove in an Indy 500 open test on Wednesday. The driver appeared to be on the limit from the start, finishing in second place, barely behind Josef Newgarden.

 

Kyle Larson maximized his results on Day 1 of the test, as Day 2 was canceled due to inclement weather. The NASCAR champion also did a lot of racing in traffic and appeared to be in good spirits ahead of his Indy 500 debut. Following his P2 finish, the No. 5 Chevy driver discussed how he is now at ease with the IndyCar after his practice sessions.

Just getting comfy in pit lane and pulling into and out of the pit stall. I think I’ve gotten more comfortable with the clutch and everything. You know, so far so good, and it’s just nice to get laps. Kyle Larson stated.

The NASCAR champion is one of the world’s top drivers, and his IndyCar appears to be quite fast. Only time will tell where Larson will be on May 14, during practice sessions leading up to the big event, the Indy 500, on May 16.

Kyle Larson gives insight into ‘learnings’ after the IndyCar open test.

Kyle Larson appeared to do admirably on the opening day of the IndyCar open test. The Hendricks Motorsport driver completed the P2 and appeared to understand the car nearly instantly. Larson talked up about his test-taking experience after it went so well.

“So, just trying to learn and process all of that, and just knowing what I can do in the car to help cope with it, and timing the runs behind me, just trying to figure out any big of like racecraft today, which I know is tough, but just trying to get an idea of things and just taking notes in my head and all that.

The Chevy star added that while driving through traffic, he was making mental notes to assist him improve his wheel-to-wheel skills. Larson’s Indy500 debut is just over a month away, and fans will be keeping a close eye on him as the NASCAR champion appears to be well prepared.
