The Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback room is expanding.
Pittsburgh announced on Monday that they will sign veteran free agent Kyle Allen. The Steelers have signed the 28-year-old quarterback to a one-year agreement.
Allen, a six-year veteran, is considered a journeyman. The Steelers are Allen’s fifth professional team, following Carolina (where he started after Cam Newton was injured in 2019), Washington, Houston, and Buffalo. Allen served as Josh Allen’s backup on the Bills past season.
The Steelers have a rather loaded depth chart after adding Russell Wilson this offseason and then trading for Justin Fields. Wilson is slated to start, but Fields may also play an important role. Meanwhile, Allen will be another veteran presence as they predicted.
