For the duration of his time at the University of Alabama, Minkah Fitzpatrick was unique.

The native of New Jersey arrived in 2015 as a five-star defensive back and went on to become a superstar. In his rookie season, he was able to start as a nickel corner or a boundary cornerback. Fitzpatrick won the starting position at nickel, went on to win a College Football Playoff National Championship with the Crimson Tide, and was named a Freshman All-American.

Fitzpatrick made a shift to safety in his last season.

Along with first-team All-SEC, Jim Thorpe, Chuck Bednarik, and unanimous All-American awards, he also received these accolades. Fitzpatrick, who played at a different position, won a second national championship before being selected first overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. Fitzpatrick-type players are hard to come by, but is there a young player from Alabama’s secondary this year who could start at two separate spots? In spring practice, Red Morgan, a four-star freshman, has captured everyone’s interest. Morgan, an Alabama native, has earned first-team reps at “Husky” and free safety. Sources claim that Morgan and Keon Sabb engaged in a lot of free safety play. Morgan has received acclaim from numerous coaches and teammates for his ability as a “ball hawk.”

According to insiders, Morgan “gets to the football so quickly.” “He reaches the ball when he makes a decision.”

While Morgan and Fitzpatrick are not being compared, it is interesting to observe the freshman’s athleticism and versatility.

During Thursday’s scrimmage, Morgan—who wears No. 16 for Alabama—recorded a pass breakup.

Morgan is eager to learn and a pleasure to train, according to Colin Hitschler, the Tide’s co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach. Morgan has been making plays, according to what Kalen DeBoer said at the beginning of spring ball.

Seeing him on A-Day is going to be thrilling.
