The Pittsburgh Steelers struggled on offense during the 2023 NFL season, prompting the franchise to fire offensive coordinator Matt Canada during the regular season.

Despite leaving Canada, the Steelers were never able to improve offensively, which is something they will have to address once the NFL offseason begins.

Heading into the offseason, the team’s first item of business was to address the quarterback position, as Kenny Pickett was just not providing enough as starter.

Because Pickett was not the right fit for this squad as quarterback, Pittsburgh dealt him to the Philadelphia Eagles and brought in Russell Wilson and Justin Fields to strengthen the position.

Along with improving the quarterback situation, the Steelers have signed one of the most versatile offensive players in NFL history, Cordarrelle Patterson, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter via Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

Patterson will join the Steelers after three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, hoping to be a game changer on offense. He can do practically anything on the football field.

Last season, Patterson appeared in 14 games for the Falcons, rushing for 181 yards and receiving nine catches for 38 yards and a touchdown.

Clearly, Patterson’s 2023 season was a down year, but the offense in Atlanta was a disaster, as the team didn’t know how to employ him after he had scored 19 total touchdowns and 1,983 all-purpose yards for the Falcons the previous two seasons combined.
