In a recent interview with France TV Info, Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate discussed his personal future at the club in light of the probable departure of manager Jurgen Klopp, who signed him in 2021.

Reflecting on his time at Liverpool and the next management transition, the France international stated unequivocally: “Liverpool is Liverpool.”

“Klopp was the one who came looking for me and got me to the level I’m at today [but] It will always be a legendary, exceptional club.”

COLLECTIVE UNCERTAINTY

Nonetheless, the Frenchman acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding Klopp’s replacement and the potential influence on the club’s future.

He said, “Everyone is nervous, and every player is aware of it.” Who will be the new manager? Will everything go smoothly, both collectively and individually?”
However, he was confident that the outcome would be favorable: “Liverpool will do the work, and with what I’m doing on the pitch today, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t work out.”

NEW DEAL IN THE PIPELINE

Despite the impending managerial change and long-standing links to Paris Saint-Germain, Konate’s primary focus remains on performing on the field for Liverpool.

In reality, it was reported in December that Liverpool had begun preliminary discussions on a new deal.

According to Le 10 Sport, conversations with the club’s management are presently underway over a renewal. However, considering his current contract has lots of time left, there is no “urgency”. However, it is hoped that a new agreement will be struck before the end of the current season.

Since his high-profile £36 million move from RB Leipzig in 2021, Konate has quickly established himself as one of the Premier League’s best centre-backs, forging a strong partnership with Virgil Van Dijk.

He has made an astounding 85 appearances for the Reds, scoring three goals and assisting twice.
