Liverpool might be one of several big clubs interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Rayan Ait-Nouri during the 2024 summer window, according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who also mentions Chelsea and Manchester United as potential suitors.

The Reds are gearing up for a new era at Anfield. Head coach Jurgen Klopp said in January that he will leave at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Michael Edwards, CEO of Fenway Sports Group’s football operations, and Richard Hughes, Liverpool’s sports director, will supervise the start of a new era on the red half of Merseyside. Ait-Nouri is having an excellent season with Wolves and could attract the interest of several Premier League clubs.

Liverpool’s past interest in Ait-Nouri

During the 2024 winter transfer window, FootballTransfers stated that Liverpool and Arsenal were interested in Ait-Nouri. Given the depth concerns, both clubs sought to strengthen their left-back positions and saw the 22-year-old as an excellent candidate to provide cover and competition. Ait-Nouri’s involvement in Algeria’s Africa Cup of Nations complicated any potential relocation. The same report said Wolves were considering a deal worth more than £50 million.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT in December that the defender was “very important” to Wolves’ style of play, and Paris Saint-Germain was rumored to be interested in the skill. However, the former Angers star will remain with Wolves for the rest of the 2023/24 season.

According to a recent report in La Gazette Du Fennec, Liverpool is leading the fight to recruit Ait-Nouri ahead of the 2024 summer transfer season. According to the article, several Premier League clubs have expressed interest in the versatile left-sided defender’s services, but the Reds are now at the top of the list.

Liverpool apparently want ‘a real left-back to help Virgil van Dijk’, and Jurgen Klopp has backed Ait-Nouri, despite the fact that he is scheduled to depart Anfield at the end of the season. Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United are all reportedly keeping an eye on the Algerian international, who is nearing the end of his fourth season at Molineux.

Dean Jones – Ait-Nouri will be ‘intriguing to clubs’ this summer

Jones would not be shocked if Liverpool were connected with a bid for Ait-Nouri during the summer transfer season. The journalist was impressed with his character after establishing himself as a starter for Gary O’Neil. Jones told GiveMeSport:

“Some big teams are looking at left-back possibilities, and given what Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United are seeking for, it wouldn’t surprise me if there are links to Ait-Nouri soon. He has started the majority of Wolves’ games this season, and he is still young enough to grow and improve, which will appeal to clubs. He’s also demonstrated strong character by turning things around at Wolves after they threatened to sour on him last year. I believe he will be targeted this summer.

Liverpool transfer update: Joshua Kimmich’s interest

Liverpool may now prepare for their first summer transfer window without Jurgen Klopp since 2016. The Reds must prioritise recruiting a new manager, who will also have an impact on the club’s future profitability.

Liverpool is reportedly interested in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich. The 29-year-old’s contract expires in the summer of 2025, and according to The Athletic, negotiations between the Bundesliga giants and the Germany international have stalled.

Bayern Munich may be willing to sell Kimmich in the summer in order to avoid losing him on a free transfer the following year. According to Sky Sport Germany writer Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool is interested in the veteran midfielder, as are Arsenal, Manchester City, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.
