Liverpool may have lost the FA Cup to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, but Jurgen Klopp’s side remains hopeful of victory in the Premier League and Europa League, with the Carabao Cup already secured.

Klopp will depart the club at the conclusion of the season after winning numerous titles, including the Premier League and Champions League, and restoring Anfield after it had fallen into ruin in the years previous his employment.

While a successor has yet to be found, Michael Edwards has returned as FSG’s new football CEO, with Richard Hughes taking on the post of sporting director, and appears to be assembling a first-rate roster to confirm Liverpool’s intention to remain at the top of the European game.

Michael Edwards’ Top Transfer Targets for Liverpool

Granted, it’s too early to predict who will be going to Merseyside during the offseason, but that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from spinning, with Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg stating that the Reds are among the contenders for Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich.

According to SPORT BILD’s Christian Falk, the 29-year-old is not the only Bayern Munich player on the radar, with Liverpool also interested in Jamal Musiala.

Chelsea and Manchester City are also interested in a move, but Bayern are desperate to keep the offensive midfielder in Bavaria and have set a £100 million asking price for him, surpassing Liverpool’s club record of £85 million paid for Darwin Nunez.

The Bundesliga champions, who trail Bayer Leverkusen by ten points this season, are hoping to agree on new terms with the 21-year-old, who is out of contract in 2026, but with such intriguing bidders circling, Liverpool have the perfect opportunity to pounce.

Why should Liverpool sign Jamal Musiala?

Musiala signed for Bayern from Chelsea as a 16-year-old in 2019, rejecting a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge, and it’s difficult to dispute that the German-born teenager made the wrong decision.

Musiala, who is still in his early professional career, has 43 goals and 30 assists in 156 senior appearances for Bayern Munich, earning acclaim from former Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn for his “exceptional” development.
According to Sofascore, Musiala has ten goals and six assists in 21 Bundesliga games (18 starts) this season, completing 82% of his passes, averaging 1.9 key passes, 1.7 tackles, 4.1 ball recoveries, and 7.5 successful duels per game, as well as 61% of his 3.8 dribbles.

Furthermore, according to FBref, the 25-cap German international ranks among the top 9% of attacking midfielders and wingers in Europe’s top five leagues for goals scored over the last year, the top 12% for shot-creating actions, the top 4% for pass completion, the top 17% for progressive passes, the top 15% for progressive carries, the top 1% for successful take-ons, and the top 11% for interceptions per 90.

Musiala has a well-rounded skill set, nearly spherical, with talents across the attacking midfield role that allow him to make a significant contribution to Liverpool’s team.
There is the question of where he would fit in, but Musiala is lively, interchangeable, and capable of playing on the left or in a more traditional No. 10 role.

The £82k-per-week star possesses Mohamed Salah’s creativity, Luis Diaz’s speed, and Alexis MacAllister’s vision. He possesses exceptional movement and spatial awareness and would thrive in the shadow of centre-forward Nunez.
