Jamie Carragher, a Liverpool legend, was enraged when Jurgen Klopp’s side were defeated late in the FA Cup quarter-finals by Manchester United.
The Reds appeared to be on their way to Wembley in normal time until Antony’s late strike made it 2-2 and forced the game into extra time. Liverpool advanced to the semi-finals again thanks to Harvey Elliott’s deflected strike, but agony was on the way.
Marcus Rashford leveled with eight minutes of extra time remaining, before substitute Amad won the game in stoppage time after Liverpool were caught on the counter-attack. Klopp had hoped to end his stint on Merseyside with a quadruple, but his squad is only competing on two fronts this season.
Following the game, Carragher was able to capture the emotions of the majority of supporters. He tweeted: “Unbelievable game and a fantastic result for Manchester United, but Liverpool only have themselves to blame.”
“We scored three goals, but the attacking guys were all quite awful. Can’t grumble too much because they’ve been fantastic all season.”
He concluded the message with a simple three-word verdict: “Football, bloody hell.” As previously said, Liverpool’s focus is now only on the Premier League and Europa League.
Klopp’s side is presently second in the Premier League, trailing only champions Arsenal on goal difference, but one point ahead of Manchester City. Meanwhile, in the Europa League, Liverpool faces Atalanta, with both legs taking place in mid-April.
