Rodrigo Muniz scored twice in a magnificent 3-0 home win over Tottenham, and Marco Silva anticipated “much more to come” from the striker.
Sasa Lukic scored his first goal for the club, and Muniz’s two goals brought his total to seven in as many appearances.
Silva is confident that it was the Whites’ best performance of the season.
“This performance, it is right on the top,” he remarked.
“Our first half was easily our best of the season. It was nearly a complete collaborative performance. It’s difficult to single out one or two guys since there were so many incredible performances.”
Muniz was essentially surplus to requirements previous to his remarkable scoring streak.
He was anticipated to leave during the January transfer window, and the loan signing of Chelsea’s Armando Broja appeared to knock him down the pecking order.
Instead, he reacted emphatically.
“It’s a fantastic feeling for me as a manager.” When I first started with the club two years ago, I advocated for him to be signed. “I saw something in him,” Silva stated.
“It hasn’t been easy for him, but he hasn’t given up, and when presented with an opportunity, he has seized it. I am confident that he will have much more to say.”
Muniz was replaced quickly after receiving a heavy knock while scoring Fulham’s third goal.
Calvin Bassey’s close-range attempt was deflected onto the post by keeper Guglielmo Vicario, and Muniz stepped in front of Spurs defender Radu Dragusin to tap in the loose ball.
However, Silva stated that Muniz was removed solely for precautionary reasons.
He explained, “He was weary and felt his hamstring a little, so it was not a good time for us to take risks. But what a performance from him.”
