PHILADELPHIA: Co-players of the Toronto Maple Leafs were ecstatic to learn that Bobby McMann had signed a new two-year contract with the organization.

Among them is rookie forward Matthews Knies, who shared a joke on Instagram with Rainn Wilson and Steve Carell from “The Office” sharing a hug in a Season 2 episode, overlayed with the announcement of McMann’s deal.

“I enjoy watching The Office. After the Maple Leafs’ morning skate in preparation for their game against the Philadelphia Flyers, Knies told TSN’s Mark Masters, “I was sitting next to him on the bird, so it was funny I was making it while he was just sitting there.” “With his play and demeanor off the ice, he deserves it. I’m overjoyed for him.”

In the article, Knies mentioned Joseph Woll as one of the players who was equally pleased for McMann. This scene, which is from the ‘Branch Closing’ episode of The Office, has characters Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute discovering that, contrary to what they were previously promised, their branch is staying open.

McMann and the Maple Leafs agreed to a two-year, $2.7 million contract extension on Wednesday. After the team’s road practice in Toronto, the organization made the announcement to Philadelphia.

With the Leafs this season, the 27-year-old has played in 40 games and recorded 10 goals and 8 assists.
