Liverpool teen star Lewis Koumas claims he will be ‘heartbroken’ if Jurgen Klopp quits the Reds because of the impact the German has had on the club’s young players. Klopp has offered Koumas and other academy graduates a chance to thrive at Anfield in recent months.
The 18-year-old, a self-confessed Liverpool fan, sat on the bench as the club’s youth defeated Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final on February 25. Four days later, he scored his first senior goal in the Reds’ 3-0 FA Cup win over Southampton.
Klopp could give Liverpool’s young players another chance when he selects a lineup to face Sparta Prague in the Europa League on Thursday night. Liverpool has a 5-1 lead owing to a first-leg demolition of the Czechs, and Klopp will be eager to rest some players.
Liverpool published a video of their younger players outlining their goals for the rest of the season. Koumas, the son of former Premier League footballer Jason, has pushed his teammates to win more trophies to honor Klopp’s memory.
“I just hope we can do it all for the boss.” “It’ll be heartbreaking when he leaves,” the midfielder said. “I hope we can acquire some more trophies for him. He is fantastic. One of the top managers in the world, and it’s terrific to learn from him and demonstrate my abilities.”
Jarell Quansah has had a breakout season at Anfield. The 21-year-old has played in 23 games in all competitions and was outstanding in Liverpool’s tie with Manchester City on Sunday.
Quansah could play against Prague and said, “It sounds surreal that we’re involved, but at the end of the day, we’ve proven we’re good enough to help the team hopefully win the league.”
Meanwhile, Bobby Clark wants to win more trophies before Klopp steps down after nearly eight years in leadership.
The 19-year-old stated: “We all want to win everything, especially for ourselves, but also for the manager because it is his final season and everything. Being around this team and what we can achieve, we won the Carabao Cup, and hopefully there will be much more to come.”
An injury issue has prompted Klopp to rely on his squad’s depth in recent months. It is unknown whether Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp would risk Mohamed Salah against Sparta, despite the Egyptian recuperating from a hamstring injury suffered against City over the weekend.
