“I’m not going to sit here and say I’m happy,” – Robertson Would leave Maple Leafs as he Becomes Aggressive about sideline

Nick Robertson returns to the Maple Leafs but is dissatisfied with his time on the bench.

Robertson is waiver exempt, but he is dissatisfied with his condition despite accepting it.

Robertson has 19 points in 41 games with the Leafs, including eight goals and 11 assists. He scored one goal and assisted five times in 14 appearances before being relegated.

“I understand it, but I’m not going to sit here and say I’m happy,” he remarked. “I want to play, but I know my contract situation. If things wasn’t the way it was, it might have been different, but it is what it is.”

The only other Leafs player who does not require waivers is winger Matthew Knies, and he will not be removed from the roster. The truth about Robertson is that if he was consistently performing at a high level with the Leafs, he would not have been transferred to the Marlies. As it was, he spent his time working with the organization’s development team.
On Monday, Robertson and Noah Gregor served as supplementary forwards.

Robertson believes that waiting for the right opportunity and being patient are key. Coach Sheldon Keefe agreed with such idea.

“I would say so,” Keefe added. “This is his first day back with the group in a while. It’s good to see him return and to make him feel like he’s still a part of what we’re doing here.”

To free up salary contract room for Robertson, the Leafs placed defenseman Mark Giordano on long-term injured reserve. Giordano practiced on Monday as he continues his recovery from a concussion.

Giordano will not be able to return to the lineup until March 26th, when he faces the New Jersey Devils.
