For today’s big game, both Liverpool and Manchester City will be without players due to injuries.

The Reds host City at Anfield in the Premier League’s top-of-the-table clash (3.45pm kickoff). Liverpool presently leads its rivals by one point in the league table, which could be extended to four points with a win on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s team defeated Sparta Prague 5-1 in the Europa League last midweek. Manchester City, meanwhile, overcame FC Copenhagen 3-1 in the Champions League.

Liverpool will be without at least nine key players from their squad owing to injuries. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch, Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, and Ben Doak are all out for the major match.

Ibrahima Konate is also an injury concern for the Reds. The centre-back was withdrawn in the second half of Thursday night’s triumph against Sparta Prague due to a fitness issue, and Klopp stated on Friday that he was doubtful whether Konate would be available.

City will also be without many key players for the trip to Liverpool. Jack Grealish is unlikely to play because he is still recovering from a groin injury.

Grealish has missed the last two matches for Manchester City, but he has been out since mid-February with an injury. The England international has only played 38 minutes of football since sustaining the injury on February 13.

Jeremy Doku is another City player who is doubtful due to injury. The forward was absent from Wednesday night’s win over Copenhagen and is due to be checked by the club’s medical team, with it unclear whether he will recover in time to play Liverpool.

Matheus Nunes emerged as a midweek doubt for City. The former Wolves midfielder sustained a finger injury against Copenhagen, but there is no indication that the ailment would prohibit Nunes from returning to the matchday squad to face the Reds.
