Boston Bruins acquire Pat Maroon from the Minnesota Wild for a draft pick.

As first reported by The Athletic’s Michael Russo and Joe Smith, the Minnesota Wild have dealt forward Patrick Maroon to the Boston Bruins.

According to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, a conditional sixth-round pick in 2026 is headed in the opposite direction.

Maroon was drafted 161st overall in 2007, and he has 304 points and 990 penalty minutes in 778 games.

Maroon underwent back surgery this season and is still a few weeks away from returning to the lineup, but he has a chance to win his fourth Stanley Cup. He won three straight, first in St. Louis in 2019, then twice in a row with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Maroon also played for the Lightning in the 2022 playoffs, although they were eliminated by Colorado.

Maroon has been a standout playoff performer, with 51 points and 197 penalty minutes in 150 games over nine playoff campaigns.

Known as the “Big Rig,” Maroon was the NHL’s most penalized player last season, with 150 PIM. It was the biggest figure of his career, demonstrating that he is not scared to compete with anyone in the league, even at an advanced age.

Maroon’s addition strengthens Boston’s lineup, which already includes Charlie McAvoy, Brad Marchand, Trent Frederic, and Parker Wotherspoon.

The Bruins are coming off a 4-1 home win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday afternoon, bringing their record to 5-1-4 over the last ten games. The club is one point behind the Florida Panthers for first place in the NHL and is due to play three games against non-playoff clubs, including Pittsburgh on Saturday, St. Louis on Monday, and Montreal on Thursday.
