Liverpool travel to Sparta Prague tomorrow, still dealing with a lot of fitness difficulties.
Liverpool has been digging deep and using whoever is at their disposal after being reduced to the bare bones of the squad in recent months.
And with Manchester City visiting Anfield on Sunday, Thursday’s encounter in Prague is set to see plenty of rotation.
The good news is that following today’s open training session at Kirkby, Jurgen Klopp has at least one more option. Mo Salah was photographed participating in what is a significant boost for Liverpool.
However, given the City game, Salah appears unlikely to play tomorrow. Klopp faces a dilemma up front as Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, and Harvey Elliott have all been overplayed, while Darwin Nunez requires protection from his own injuries.
As a result, it’s possible that we’ll see some young guns in Prague. Given his recent workload, Diaz appears to be resting, and with that in mind, Mateusz Musialowski appears to be the best candidate to fill in on the Reds’ left side.
Musialowksi prepares for Liverpool debut
Musialowski has yet to make an appearance for the Liverpool first team, which is surprising given the hoopla around him at the time.
Back in 2021/22, it seemed almost inevitable that the Polish youth would be promoted to the senior team. Supporters who saw him in the academy described him as’special’, and he appeared to be on his way to the squad.
However, Musialowksi has faded into obscurity after two years. Despite some solid performances this season, his contract expires in a few months. He appears to be planning to leave this summer.
Nonetheless, we believe the 20-year-old should do so after playing for Liverpool. According to X journalist Ian Doyle, Musialowski participated in today’s training session. He’s in the photo.
There is no reason not to play Musialowski on Thursday, given the concerns and questions surrounding other choices.
