Chris Sutton claims Liverpool have a ‘phenomenal’ talent that he can’t stop watching.

Liverpool has had so many improbable heroes this season.

Having won the Carabao Cup last month with a number of young players on the pitch, you never know who will appear for the Reds next. Last week’s FA Cup victory produced two more unexpected stars, with Jayden Danns and Lewis Koumas scoring goals.

Darwin Nunez has been another of the Reds’ surprise heroes this season. Although Nunez was a big-money signing who was expected to explode for a long time, others doubted he would.

Happily, the 24-year-old is now demonstrating just how good he is. The latest installment in the Darwin show occurred on Saturday, when Liverpool’s No.9 scored a dramatic injury-time winner against Nottingham Forest. Chris Sutton, a pundit on BBC 5 Live’s Monday Night Club, praised Nunez following the goal at the weekend.

“I can’t take my eyes off him when he plays,” Sutton exclaimed. “Liverpool were struggling at the weekend, and Nunez came off the bench. I’m not saying I knew they were going to win, but you could feel a change in the game.

“His physicality is incredible. He’s a huge hassle. He is a handful, and it’s understandable that many are annoyed with his finishing, but some of his finishes this season have been spectacular. Everyone misses opportunities, and he can get better at it, but he makes things happen and helps others around him play better, which is the most important thing.”

Nunez won folks over.

This is not something new for Darwin. After becoming a laughing stock last season, the Uruguayan has been terrific for quite some time.

Prior to his recent injury against Brentford, several argued that he was Liverpool’s most valuable player.
