Darwin Nunez, Liverpool’s standout player, had the perfect response to Nottingham Forest fans’ cries at City Ground.

With a 1-0 win in Nottingham, the Reds secured what could be a crucial three points in their pursuit for the Premier League title.

Jurgen Klopp’s side welcomed back a number of players after missing Wednesday’s FA Cup fifth round victory against Southampton, including Luis Diaz, Ibrahima Konate, and Alexis MacAllister, all of whom were eligible to participate.

Liverpool tested Forest’s new goalkeeper Matz Sels with 22 shots, only two of which found the target.

Nunez, who had been injured for the previous three matches, emerged victorious.

Despite coming off the bench, the Uruguayan made the most impression for Klopp’s side at the City Ground. He sealed the match with a stunning winning goal in the 99th minute.

When he went onto the field, the Forest fans began chanting, “You’re just a shit Andy Carroll.”

Nunez, 24, has had a terrific Premier League season, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists.

After defeating Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, Manchester City moved into second place, four points behind Liverpool. City still had one game in hand, however.

With a game in hand against Sheffield United on Monday night, Arsenal can reduce the margin to one point and move into third place.

Forest, whose enraged chairman Evangelos Marinakis took the field at full time, are currently in 17th position, four points ahead of 18th-place Luton—a team Nuno Espirito Santo’s side has a game in hand over.
