Everton mourns Chairman Bill Kenwright’s death, while Liverpool FC pays respects.

Bill Kenwright, Everton’s chairman, died at the age of 78. Kenwright passed away on Monday night, surrounded by his loved ones and family.

He underwent surgery eight weeks ago to remove a malignant growth from his liver.

Kenwright was born and raised in Everton and served on the Goodison Park board for more than 30 years.

Six years after the Toffees won the FA Cup, in 1989, he was appointed team director for the first time.

Kenwright became Everton’s chairman and main shareholder in 2004.

During this time, the Blues won the FA Cup in 2009 and finished fourth in the Premier League in 2004-04.

After Farhad Moshiri purchased the first 49.9% of Everton in February 2016, Kenwright retained his position.

In addition, Kenwright was a highly successful theatrical producer in the United Kingdom.

He worked on the West End productions of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Whistle Down the Wind, and Blood Brothers, which were written by Merseyside native Willy Russell.

“The club has lost a chairman, a leader, a friend, and an inspiration,” Everton said.

Everyone at Everton is thinking and praying for his girlfriend Jenny Seagrove, daughter Lucy Kenwright, grandchildren, and everyone who knew and loved him.

Liverpool, Everton’s Merseyside rivals, have offered sympathies and demonstrated solidarity.

“Rest in peace, Bill Kenwright,” the club tweeted on its X account. Here at Liverpool FC, we are thinking and praying for Bill’s family, friends, and everyone at @Everton.

“The EFL is saddened to learn of Bill Kenwright CBE’s passing,” the organization stated.

Preston North End has offered their sympathies.

“Bill had been at Everton since 1989. He was initially appointed to the board and then became chairman in 2004. He has remained in that role ever since.

During this difficult time, Bill’s loved ones and everyone involved with the Everton Football Club are on everyone’s minds at PNE.

Former Everton defender Shane Duffy tweeted: “What terrible news for a great man.” Bill, I appreciate everything you’ve done for my family and me. RIP.
