According to reports, Borussia Dortmund will sell Donyell Malen this summer for a reduced price, making him an appealing target for Manchester United and Liverpool.

The 25-year-old has had a fantastic season with BVB, scoring 10 Bundesliga goals and scoring in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against his former club, PSV.

Dortmund’s recent performance has dipped, dropping them to fourth position in the standings. They are currently vying with RB Leipzig for a berth in the Champions League, putting pressure on manager Edin Terzic.

Malen has been a consistent player for the team, sometimes providing the sole source of innovation in the offensive position. However, SportBild reports that he may have to be sold this summer.

Dortmund has regularly sold its top players for profit, but there are currently no extraordinary players garnering attention from prominent European clubs.

Selling Ousmane Dembele, Jadon Sancho, Jude Bellingham, and Erling Haaland has previously resulted in significant cash for the club. However, this time around, they will need to use more imaginative techniques.

They are losing a substantial number of players, including out-of-contract Marco Reus, Mats Hummels, and Marius Wolf, as well as loanees Sancho and Ian Maatsen, who are expected to return to their original clubs.

Donyell Malen is a striker for Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund still has money from last summer’s Bellingham deal, but they will need to sell Malen and potentially Sebastien Haller to improve their financial resources.

Despite both forwards’ strong performances this season, BVB wants to sign elite young talent to sell for larger fees in the future.

Manchester United have long been interested in Malen and were previously linked to a trade deal involving the Dutchman and Sancho. Sancho, on the other hand, eventually moved to Germany on a straightforward loan agreement.

Dortmund is now willing to let Malen go and will accept a €40 million transfer fee.

Malen recently moved agents to Sports Entertainment Group (SEG), the agency that assisted Ramus Hojlund’s move to Old Trafford and also handles Erik ten Hag.

The United manager is known to have a high regard for Malen and has been keeping an eye on him for some time, particularly since the forward did well at PSV while Ten Hag was the Ajax manager.

According to SportBild, Liverpool is interested in Malen and plans to bolster its attacking options this summer.

Malen, a former Arsenal player, is interested in moving to the Premier League. However, Ten Hag’s chances of joining United are dependent on whether Ineos supports him.
