After the two-time major champion quit the PGA Tour for LIV Golf, Jon Rahm claims Tiger Woods hasn’t gotten in touch with him yet.

Rory McIlroy, who was amenable to Jon Rahm’s switch from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf both in public and privately, seems to still be a buddy of Rahm’s. Conversely, Tiger Woods has shown less receptivity. After quitting the Tour for a lucrative contract with LIV Golf, which is thought to be well into the nine figures, Rahm claimed he contacted Tiger but never received a response from the 15-time major winner.

“Rory has supported my decision both in public and in private. Two-time major winner Rahm remarked in an ESPN interview, “Tiger, not really.” “When I signed, I texted him and the folks who had attempted to get in touch with me, telling them that this was a personal choice. “I hold no grudges against anyone.”

In February 2022, Rahm first swore “fealty” to the PGA Tour. However, he later stated that the framework agreement between the PGA Tour and LIV, in addition to the extent of his offer to leave the Tour and join LIV Golf, altered his perspective on the matter.

“I felt that hearing the other side of the story was something I owed to myself as an athlete and performer, so I did just that. I have the absolute right to act in my family’s and my own best interests. It is my responsibility as a spouse and father to position myself as favorably as I can. We are incredibly affluent individuals, not that we weren’t, but that’s my responsibility.”

Tiger has been critical of those that departed for LIV Golf throughout the process. Though Rahm stated he is interested in doing so (along with playing the DP World Tour), he recently joined the PGA Tour as a player director. At the Genesis Invitational, he stated that the Tour is attempting to determine how LIV golfers would return to play on the Tour.

“We’re looking into all the different models for pathways back,” Woods stated. There is currently no answer to what it looks like, how it affects the gamers who have stayed and who have not departed, or how we can improve our product moving ahead. We’re looking at ideas in different degrees, and we’re not sure how that will play out in the near future. Even what that entails in the long run is unknown to us. Believe me, there are chats and emails about this every day and every week regarding what this means for our upcoming tour.”

Just 18 golfers have won both the Masters and the U.S. Open. Rahm and Woods are two of the last five Masters champions.
