With Alabama Football’s new coaching staff, do any of the Tide’s ’24 SEC opponents have a competitive advantage at Coordinator?
Alabama football fans will have to wait a long time to see how the new Crimson Tide coaching staff performs. The A-Day Game will provide some (although limited) knowledge. Otherwise, it will be many months before the new Alabama coaching staff faces up against an opponent in a game.
Almost generally, Crimson Tide supporters believe in Kalen DeBoer. Though with less enthusiasm, the Crimson Tide’s new Coordinators share the same optimism. Kalen DeBoer has five Coordinators and Co-Coordinators, as described by their titles. They are Nick Sheridan, Co-Offense Coordinator JaMarcus Shepard, Kane Wommack, Maurice Linguist, and Colin Hitschler.
What are the chances that the Tide’s new brain trust will be outcoached by the opposing SEC Coordinators? Any response must take into account the roster talent available to each group of coaches.
The coordinators for the Crimson Tide’s six SEC opponents are listed below. Vanderbilt and South Carolina are excluded due to a mismatch in roster talent with the 2024 Alabama Crimson Tide.
Georgia Bulldogs coordinators
Offensive Coordinator: Mike Bobo
Glen Schumann is the defensive coordinator, with Travaris Robinson serving as his co-DC.
Georgia may have a little advantage against the Crimson Tide since Mike Bobo has more experience than Nick Sheridan.
Tennessee Volunteers Coordinators
Joey Halzle, Offensive Coordinator
Tim Banks, Defensive Coordinator
Alabama has a clear advantage on offence and a little advantage on defence.
Missouri Tigers coordinators
Kirby Moore, Offensive Coordinator
Corey Batoon, Defensive Coordinator
Kirby Moore is a rising star among OCs, but the Crimson Tide has a significant advantage with its 2024 roster. Corey Batoon is expected to make a significant step up to face SEC offences.
LSU Bengal Tigers coordinators
Joe Sloan, Offensive Coordinator
Blake Baker, Defensive Coordinator
Joe Sloan faces a significant challenge in building an LSU offence without Jayden Daniels. Sloan, who was promoted from quarterback coach by Brian Kelly, may do an excellent job – or not. Baker is a solid addition after two productive seasons at Missouri. Mark up the Crimson Tide with a clear advantage.
Oklahoma Sooner Coordinators

Zac Alley, Co-Defensive Coordinator
Todd Bates, Co-Defensive Coordinator
Zac Alley has never coached any Power Five players, hence he is largely unknown. Alabama has a clear advantage in offence and defence.
Auburn Tigers coordinators
Derrick Nix, Offensive Coordinator
D.J. Durkin, Defensive Coordinator.
Durkin, who has travelled extensively, is regarded as an effective coach. Nix’s success or failure depends on whether Freeze’s offence improves in 2024. If it doesn’t, Nix might be the next Auburn fall man. Alabama has a clear advantage.
