Report: Lions agree to two-year deal with Jalen Reeves-Maybin

The Lions are keeping one of their key players.

According to NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo, Detroit has reached an agreement with linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin for a two-year contract.

The contract is worth $7.5 million with a maximum salary of $8 million, becoming him the league’s highest-paid core special teams player. Reeves-Maybin is guaranteed $5.245 million, plus a $2.5 million signing bonus.

Maybin, 29, returned to Detroit in 2023 after spending the 2022 season in Houston. He had 20 total tackles, including a sack, two quarterback hits, and one tackle for loss.

He appeared on the field for 82% of special teams snaps and 8% of defensive snaps.

Reeves-Maybin, a fourth-round pick in 2017, has played 104 games, 14 of which he started. He spent his first five years with Detroit before joining Houston in 2022. In 2023, he returned to the Lions and earned his first Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro selection.
