After finishing his fourth season in the NCAA, he signed a two-year contract with the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies.

The Marlies are the Leafs’ AHL affiliate. Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, he spent his first professional season splitting time between the Marlies and the ECHL’s Wichita Thunder. He spent the most of the 2021-22 season with the Marlies, but also spent time with the Newfoundland Growlers of the ECHL. McMann scored 24 goals for the Marlies that season.

McMann got his first taste of the NHL during the 2022–2023 season. He played ten games with the Leafs and had one assist. In 30 games with the Marlies, he scored 21 goals and assisted on eight others, totaling 29 points.

McMann was placed on waivers earlier this season after failing to make the Leafs’ roster out of training camp. Many expected him to be claimed, but luck was on the Leafs’ side, as McMann cleared waivers and joined the Marlies.

Since rejoining the Leafs in November, McMann has demonstrated that he belongs in the NHL. The most recent evidence came during the Leafs’ current six-game winning streak. McMann has seven goals and three assists in his last six games, totaling 10 points.

He has become an important member of the Leafs’ squad, thanks to his years of hard effort. In 32 games, he has nine goals and eight assists for 17 points, putting him on pace for a 31-point season.
